Well here we go. The influence and description of this piece are going to be one that I would say YOU have never heard before. The painting is called Hot Doggies because that was a term that was used in the 1970's to describe a good surfboard. This sculpture/painting is a representation of a stack of surfboards. The story continues.,.... If you look at the second photo, That is me standing my brother Tony sitting and my best mate John crouching. We were Satan Surfbooards back in the late 1960's into the 1970's. WE used to make all the boards and sometimes sell the boards during our surfing/selling trips up the coast to Queensland. The photo shows the old Kombi full of board, more boards inside.. WELL!!!!! The boards you can see on the top at the back came loose and were damaged on the road not 2 Km from the start of our trip. ONE of the straps holding them broke. That is why the painting only has one strap!!!!!!!!!! TRUE. This painting was made in 2007. It is a plaster base on a stretched canvas and painted with acrylics. It is blocked under the stretcher bars on the back to stabilize the plaster. It is the textured base that gives character to the piece and the shadow lines really accentuate the colors. The painting is 122 cm wide 91 cm high and 4 cm deep. It does not need a frame as the edges are fully painted. It weighs 4.5 Kg. I have loved this painting now for many years and as I am not getting any younger it is time for someone else to love it as well. On the back is a signed and date Certificate of Authenticity. It is wired ready to hang and has felt cushions to protect your walls. This painting will be shipped in a crate for your protection.
