Reminiscent of De Stijl and Mondrian art movement. 3D abstract glass work done in the tiffany technique - green, red and black art glass, copper foiled and soldered. about 14 1/2" tall and the base about 16" x 9" Theo van Doesburg was a Dutch artist, who together with Piet Mondrian established the De Stijl movement. Van Doesburg's most famous work experimented with geometric abstraction and archetypal forms. He was also a prominent architect and writer. 1178designs started in 1978 when Jean Luc Comperat and Minouche Waring merged their experiences into designing glass and stained glass decorative objects. Jean Luc graduated in 1977 as an architect from L'Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts de Paris,France, and Minouche had been working for advertising agencies designing sets for print and TV commercials. The work of 1178designs has been featured in New York Magazine, New York Times, Daily News, Casa Vogue, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, ABC news, Scottish TV and many other publications. In 1997 they received an award for "excellence in design" from Metropolitan Home Magazine. Glass Master Guild awarded them 1st prize at their 4th annual Art Glass Competition. ...french in New York, widely acclaimed, unusual designs.... in " The Glass Encyclopedia "
