This work was inspired by my contemplation of the mystery of the universality of water. Everything depicted in this picture is made up mostly of water. I also was inspired by the mirror effect of water as part of its mystery. There is another idea here and that is a shared awareness with animals.

I work in Yosemite National Park as a tour guide. I have worked in Yosemite for over 30 years. My artwork is inextricably tied to my Yosemite Geography and my ecological message. I am a plein air painter, print maker, and photographer. I also write and illustrate my own books. I am the author of "A Brief Instruction in Christian Religion," (A translation of Faustus Socinus), "The Chronicles of the Field Mouse Timothy," (Corn,Tomato,Wheat, Cotton, Sweet Potatoes, Rice Paddy, Pond Mouse and Yosemite), "Nature Vision" (Poems), and I have illustrated the short stories of my late daughter Sandra Fontana "Cereal at Midnight." I love nature and the wilderness. I am a proponent of the global national parks movement.
