When a new model comes into the class it's always a little bit exciting. While I love different shapes and think everyone is beautiful in their nudity, you still don't know how the drawing will go, whether that particular one will inspire you. That day was a gift of fortune - an extraordinarily beautiful young woman whose body was half ornamented with an intricate patterned tattoo. In my drawing class, many artists don't like tattoos, and I understand why. The main reason is probably that a tattooed body makes it very difficult to draw. The human eye recognizes color first, and then shape. And when the body is so richly adorned with an indigo pattern, you perceive nothing but it, all you have to do is either follow the tattoo pattern and rely on your knowledge of anatomy, trying to see the construction of the body. Since I like beautiful tattoos, they remind me of Native American culture, I was excited to draw it all. Some of it worked, some of it might need to be corrected; but it's a living 4 hour drawing and in its imperfections is all the energy and charm. I called it "Greta the Queen of Tattoo." This is a one-of-a-kind drawing made by me in tempera, gouache and colored pencils on 300 gsm. cardboard. The drawing was fixed with professional spray varnish for gouache drawings for preservation. The image is signed by hand on the front side. Not framed. Do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.

For the past few years, I have been concentrating on the theme of animate and inanimate nature. Starting with the theme of roots and delving into the beauty and variety of small details of flowering meadows. In the context of nature, I include lonely images of people as an integral part of the living world. In depicting human beings, for me, it is not only their physical beauty that is important, but also the transmission of their momentary mood, psychological well-being. Sometimes in my drawings I allow myself to be ironic about myself and what I find funny or remarkable in other people. But at the same time, I consciously avoid depressive and aggressive images, because it contradicts my inner ethic not to multiply the violence in the world. I would like to classify my work as Magical Realism, but I think my work reflects more of a psychological Existentialism, looking for its embodiment in natural motifs. 1995-1999 studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts and in 1999.
